Press Releases
November 9, 2006: Thanks to all of you who participated in and supported our historical and inaugural statewide campaign for the Green Party in Ohio. In many ways, the campaign was key in defeating Ken Blackwell. For two years, often while the Democrats ducked and covered, our independent and tenacious army of election rights activists unflinchingly attacked Blackwell and his corrupt cronies.
November 8, 2006: The real winner in the November 7 election is the grassroots voter protection movement. That the well-oiled, well-funded Rove/Bush theft machine lost control of the US House and with the Senate as close as it is says just one thing: somebody was watching.
November 3, 2006: This report, filed as part of the "Five Candidate Election Observers Project 2006" by Paddy Shaffer, Campaign Manager for the Fitrakis for Governor campaign, discusses voting issues in three counties.
October 31, 2006: Today, Bob Fitrakis is being featured on Democracy Now!, the radio and TV program available on over 500 media outlets arond the country. The segment, also featuring Harvey Wasserman, focuses on the draconian Voter ID laws being foisted on Ohio voters.
October 22, 2006: Election Observers are needed to oversee the Ohio Election process. Five state-wide candidates, who have the legal standing to demand Election Observers for the November 7th election, including Bob Fitrakis, have come together for this vital undertaking. Ohio has over 11,000 precincts in 88 counties. Our observers must be "Qualified Electors," which means they must be qualified Ohio voters. If you are from another state and can help, there are other important roles for you.
October 12, 2006: Recent Zogby polls show that 92% of all Americans believe in full transparency for our democratic system. Since the vast majority of all Americans believe in the principles of democracy, please attend the Election Protection conference at Columbus State Community College this weekend, October 13 to 15, and learn how you can help us to defend and strengthen democracy in Ohio and nationwide. The conference is free and open to the public.
October 10, 2006: As for The University of Cincinnati, they hosted the private Ted Strickland/Kenneth Blackwell Debate. Only 25 students that were prechosen and screened were allowed in the audience. I guess it was just enough to make it appear that students could attend.
September 10, 2006: Dr. Bob Fitrakis, the dynamic election protection lawyer and journalist who is running for Governor of Ohio, will continue his packed campaign schedule in September with trips to several venues in Ohio as well as trips to Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles. Please plan to see him when he comes to your area, and please donate as much as you can to his campaign so that he can continue exposing the corruption that is undermining democracy in Ohio.
September 5, 2006: The 2004 presidential campaign ballots have been saved for now, so we can get back to the business of campaigning for Ohio governor. Be sure to keep following the story in the New York Times and other media outlets as the Center for Constitutional Rights and our team of Ohio attorneys battles to save the 2004 election ballots.
Monday, August 21, 2006: Ohio Green Party Governor candidate Bob Fitrakis and Lt Governor candidate Anita Rios will be at the Ohio Green Party
POTLUCK FAMILY PICNIC on Saturday, August 26th from 3pm to 7pm at the Jeffrey Park Shelter House (meadow behind Jeffrey Mansion) at 165 N. Parkview in Bexley, Ohio. All are welcome to attend.
August 2, 2006: Green Party gubernatorial candidate Bob Fitrakis, Lt. Gov candidate Anita Rios, Secretary of State candidate Tim Kettler, and members of the Green Party of Ohio will have a booth at the world-renowned Ohio State Fair from August 2 through 13.
July 1, 2006: It is now official. Bob Fitrakis, the lawyer, journalist and college professor who helped to lead the fight against the stolen Ohio election in 2004 has been formally certified as a Green Party candidate for governor in Ohio's November 7 election. He joins Democratic Congressman Ted Strickland, Republican Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell, and Libertarian economist Bill Peirce in the race to replace the current Republican governor and convicted criminal Robert Taft, who is not eligible for re-election. More on the Fitrakis campaign can be found on his campaign website and blog.

May 1, 2006: At 1:00 PM today, The Fitrakis for Governor campaign will submit 10,915 signatures of Ohio voters who want to see Bob Fotrakis and other Green-endorsed candidates on the ballot this November. The signatures will be delivered at the Borden building at the corner of 4th and Broad in downtown Columbus. A press conference will follow immediately after the filing of petitions at the secretary of states office in the Borden building.
April 17, 2006: One of the leading non-partisan political websites, Politics1.com, has chosen the Bob Fitrakis for Governor website as its "Site of the Day" for April 17, 2006. The award recognizes poltical sites that "effectively use the Internet as a political tool" and demonstrate "good content, sharp design, clever humor, creativity, innovation in organizing, use of new online tools." Publisher Ron Gunzburger cited Bob's site as: "Informative, good use of online organizing tools, and a decent blog."
April 6, 2006: Building on the momentum generated by blogging on the Cleveland Plain Dealer website in March, Bob Fitrakis has launched www.FraudBusterBob.com, a new blog that will serve as a meeting place for those who want to end the culture of corruption in Ohio. It also will focus on education, environmental concerns, and other issues of interest to the people of Ohio during this crucial election year.
March 18, 2006: Our great nation is at a crossroads and we the people must move quickly and creatively to avert catastrophe and defend the national security of our country. On the third anniversary of the unconscionable and illegal attack on Iraq, we must confront the president and his small circle of sycophants. The Bush regime lacks the competence, vision, wisdom and moral compass to lead America.

Tuesday, February 28, 2006: The Ohio Green Party voted to endorse Bob Fitrakis and Anita Rios for Governor/Lt governor during their convention on Saturday in Columbus. Fitrakis received a thundering approval as he outlined his vision for Ohio. He promised to form a rainbow coalition of Greens by creating an alliance of the Green Party faithful with independent progressive people of color. The Green Party offers a true alternative to the corporate-influenced two-party system. "We want to tell our children and grandchildren that we were the ones who fought for sustainability against the fossil fuel economy, we stood up and took to the streets over verifiable elections, and we promoted real solutions when faced with global warming."

Saturday, February 25, 2006: Bob Fitrakis, speaking in suburban Columbus on the issue of election reform, urged citizens to place pressure on Boards of Elections to issue PHOTO VOTER IDS to the poor, and at nursing homes and college campuses, so that voters disenfranchised in the past will be able to cast their votes in November. He suggested that the Dublin progressives contact Denny White, at the Franklin County BOE and ask his help in protecting the Democratic base voters by issuing Voter IDs.
Cobb demands reinstatement of Ohio Recount suit
Wednesday, February 22, 2006: The Ohio Recount lawsuit, which was dismissed by a federal judge earlier this month, should be re-instated because Ohio Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell is still using the same flawed recount procedures he did in 2004, according to a Motion filed Friday by lawyers for 2004 Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb.
January 30, 2006: Gubernatorial candidate Bob Fitrakis and his campaign staff and volunteers continued their outreach to the people of Ohio. January was a busy month, with several major events, signature-gathering, and campus outreach.
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr
January 16, 2006: The time has come when silence is betrayal of the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. Rev. King was assassinated on April 4, 1968 — exactly one year after, to the day, he delivered his most profound indictment of U.S. militarism. His "Silence is Betrayal" speech, given at Riverside Church in New York City on April 4, 1967, denounced "a nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift."

January 13, 2006: Congress must investigate whether Bush used the NSA for partisan political gain during the 2004 election, and whether any NSA Bush operatives or other members of the security industrial complex had access to e-voting machines, central tabulators or the communication lines that delivered the voting results. While many progressives accept the fact that our government manufactured an illegal war in Iraq and routinely violates human rights worldwide, many are reluctant to accept that it would spy on John Kerry and rig the election which is very easy to do when the NSA does your bidding.

January 6, 2006: A year has passed since Ohio Rep. Stephanie Tubbs-Jones and California Sen. Barbara Boxer had the courage to question the Ohio Electoral College vote when Congress convened on January 6, 2005 to certify the outcome of the November 2004 election. Building on the momentum of the grassroots recount movement spearheaded by the Green and Libertarian parties after John Kerry failed to report for duty to protect our votes, the challenge will go down in the record books as an official reminder that George W. Bush and his handlers did not win the 2004 election fair and square.
