A Beautiful Day for Politicking at Findlay Market
By Andrew Warner
It was a beautiful day today. Perfect for signature gathering. So perfect that us Fitrakis supporters bumped into Tom Brinkman collecting signatures for his human rights repeal and Rich Stevenson scrambling to get on the ballot to challenge Steve Chabot in my 1st district.
"People are ready for a candidate like Bob Fitrakis. After years of corruption, his fraudbuster message is really sinking in with people. People are frustrated with the elections process and the way their votes aren't even getting counted with crooks like Blackwell in charge." — Andrew Warner |
Findlay Market was surprisingly slow, but because a few of us were able to make it out we were able to get a pretty good amount of singatures. We are closing that gap to 5000 valid. I personally could have gotten more signatures, but I got caught up in conversation with other people who are fed up with corruption as usual, and of course people who wanted to disagree with me. It was slow enough that I really got to engage some of these concerned citizens.
Most importantly, people are ready for a candidate like Bob Fitrakis. After years of corruption, his fraudbuster message is really sinking in with people. People are frustrated with the elections process and the way their votes aren't even getting counted with crooks like Blackwell in charge. And when you get into the heart of OTR, it isn't easy to find people who think universal health care is a good idea and people who think bringing their friends home from Iraq isn't a bad idea either.
Some people love to make cracks about him, but Justin Jeffre is an example for all of us. He showed up to help collect signatures for Fitrakis and even brought his Stephanie Dumas for County Commissioner sign. Jeffre is a stand up guy, the kind of guy we need in politics... Too bad the city couldn't see that last mayoral election. I will do everything I can to get him back into local races in the future. We both got a chance to talk to Tom Brinkman in detail about his new initiative, and I will discuss that in greater detail soon.
Speaking of Bob Fitrakis, I just discovered his new blog. I respect him a great deal as a politician, but as a writer as well. This blog should be an exciting place to learn about the type of corruption we deal with in Ohio, Fitrakis will uncover all the dirt we need to hear about. Besides, they have Fitrakis drawn like Superman, and you just can't beat that. Check his new blog out often.
